A Necklace So Nice Gemma Said ‘I Do’ In It Twice

Wedding jewellery often feels like an afterthought, but it’s the part that stays with you. The necklace you reach for while getting ready, the earrings you see in every photo, the bracelet you keep wearing afterwards  those little details carry the memory of the day long after it’s over.

That’s why I’ll never forget Gemma!

Back in 2020, Gemma became the very first bride to wear blóma on her wedding day! She chose the Vanille necklace, a delicate mix of freshwater pearls and gold faceted spacer beads for her small ceremony. It was such a milestone for me. Knowing that something handmade at my little desk in Manchester was chosen for such an important day will always stay with me.

Like so many couples, Gemma and Alf’s big celebration was put on hold by lockdowns and restrictions. Their day was small and intimate, with loved ones missing. But five years later, they finally got to gather all their family and friends for the party they had been waiting for.

And just like before, the Vanille necklace was there with her.

In fact, Gemma loved hers so much she wore it constantly afterwards. So much so that after four years, it eventually broke from all the love and wear. When it came time to celebrate their five-year anniversary, she came back for another Vanille.

What makes this story even more special is what’s next. I’ll be reworking the old pearls from Gemma’s first necklace into a new piece she can treasure forever. Because jewellery should never just be something that lives in a box, it should be worn, loved, and woven into your memories.

Gemma’s choice of the Vanille necklace feels extra fitting, because pearls have always been a favourite for brides and anniversaries.

Here’s why:

Timeless style – Pearls never go out of fashion. Whether it’s a simple strand or a delicate pendant, they look as beautiful now as they did fifty years ago.

Symbolic meaning – Pearls are often linked to love, wisdom, and new beginnings, making them a natural fit for weddings and milestone anniversaries.

Thoughtfully Made– At blóma, I use freshwater pearls and build every piece by hand. They’re designed to last, but if anything ever does go wrong, I’ll happily repair it free of charge so you can keep wearing them for years to come.

If you ever have a blóma piece that breaks or needs a little love, please reach out. I’ll always repair my jewellery for free, it’s so important to me that your pieces continue to be worn and enjoyed, not tucked away.

Congratulations Gemma and Alf!  Thank you for letting the Vanille necklace be part of your love story, not once but twice.

If you’re looking for bridal jewellery, anniversary gift ideas, or simply a timeless pearl necklace to carry through the chapters of your life, you can explore the Vanille necklace here.

Do you have a blóma piece with its own story? If so I’d love to hear it!
